Re: Episode #357

Above FL600 is Class E airspace. Can cancel if you want. Whether the operators cancel when they get up there is something to ask a U-2 pilot. But there's certainly not much in the way of weather to worry about.

Re: "Primary Target" UCAP #352

I have friends who flat do not believe that the Government doesn't know the truth and for reasons unknown at this time is just not telling us. I personally have less faith that the Government does indeed know everything, or that it could keep a secret as juicy as this. I always find it interesting ...

Re: Can a guy with only computer flight sim time land a plane?

Great story and write up. You can see a full video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJT_CACIZqs&feature=youtu.be And a shorter version at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXSYlXbeF68&feature=plcp It's a little late to chime in now, but I would totally have taken him up on the 5:1 bet (on his ...

Re: Man gets 5 month sentence for shining laser at helicopter

So what is the big deal with shining a laser at an aircraft? I certainly wasn't blinded by this. In fact, it didn't even rise to much more than the level of looking at a strobe light down on the ground. When in the cockpit the laser can not just shine through the plexi but also refract within the p...

Re: Hypoxic Felix?

Apparently they pressurized the capsule to 16,000 feet cabin altitude. Wonder if that could have had anything to do with it. I was thinking that things probably took a little longer and a little more effort with the suit on. That and he was admittedly suffering from claustrophobia and had some panic...

Nicely done! Having been on the receiving end of that type phone call as a CFI, I agree that you deserve serious commendations for keeping your wits about you. It's easy to forget stuff you've never used before but I'll bet that you'll never forget NORDO procedures now.

Damn, Turbo! If there was such a thing as too much fun flying, you'd be a leading contender for the competition. Keep it up!

Re: My story - and thanks!

Just a quick update - yesterday I passed the big one and got my Airline Transport Pilot with PIC type rating for the CL-65 (CRJ/Challenger). So thrilled and relieved to finally get here. Also, it was fantastic meeting you all in person at AirVenture this year. My first trip and it was definitely one...

I love the fact that he passed - rather than a discontinuance. Way to go!
