UAVs and the law

Just heard a story on the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) Law Report, about the laws (or lack thereof) around the use of UAVs for killing people in places like Afghanistan, Palestine, Pakistan, etc. Worth a listen if you're interested in that kind of stuff: http://www.abc.net.au/rn/lawrepo...

And I did wear an Airspeed shirt of a different variety. Nothing to do with the podcast. Get yours here.

Another huge (not) meetup downunder

svmelb (left), Falcon124 (centre), and I (right) hooked up today for a very pleasant lunch out on the deck at the RVAC Aero Bar at YMMB . Chat was minimal as I was too busy watching the traffic - there's lots of it compared to what I'm used to at my local field ! - At least amongst this group, no-o...

Re: UCAP meetup at Avalon 2009 (Australia)

Who is who in this pic, so we can embarrass you during the next ep? Oops, yes, sorry about that. That's Falcon124 on the left, with the hat on; and me on the right with the ridiculous grin. And I'm still working out how I feel about the fact that, to a "UCAP meetup" one of you is wearing ...

UCAP meetup at Avalon 2009 (Australia)

Hi fellow UCAPpers, I was just chatting with fellow Aussie UCAPper Falcon124 about meeting up at the Avalon Airshow next week and it occurred to me that there are likely to be other UCAP listeners in our neck of the woods! Please let us know if you're interested in hooking up for a quick hello and m...

Re: This has to be the off-field landing of the month, at least.

Post script... I'm not naive enough to seriously believe that the media will change their wicked ways because of a few cranky e-mails from aviators. But even if you write a "letter to the editor" and it gets published - and some people read it, and put their brains into gear - isn't that d...

Re: This has to be the off-field landing of the month, at least.

Guess what folks? This is also a chance for y'all to save the aviation industry. How? Well, as we all know, unfortunately most people do rely on the mainstream media to inform their world view, instead of observing and thinking for themselves. Of course this includes the aviation community but I dig...

Re: Logbook Memories

Steve -- I'm listening to you talk on Will's podcast right now. I tried vegimite for the first time this past November. My brother in-law is British and loves it. It's supposed to be what's left over from the process of brewing beer. My PIREP: Blah! I'll stick with butter and jam on my bread. Hehe ...
