Re: The Dream of Flight

Talk about perspective. And here I was agonizing over a small condition that could keep me from getting a medical and end my dream to fly. Often times, belief is the biggest hurdle. Thanks for the kick in the tuckus...

Aviation Apps exclusive to Ipad?

I recently purchased an EXOPC SLATE tablet that runs full Windows 7 home premium. It's bigger than an Ipad (11.6" screen)and has USB and HDMI ports as well as other potential for peripherals. Question: Are aviation apps exclusive to the Ipad? Did any of these aviation tools exist prior to the i...

Re: Mounting a camera on the outside

I just bought a Drift HD 170 Action camera to shoot my flight lessons from my point of view. There are a few videos on Youtube showing POV from a tailmount , wing mount and cockpit mount showing it's use on the exterior of the plane. It comes with an RF remote and a few very secure mounting mechanis...

Re: Would buying a cheap little airplane be a good idea?

This is one of my favorite threads and I was just wondering if Jeiting ever bought a plane. I'd love to hear an update, on the purchase and the training...

Re: Legacy LSA to Private Pilot Certificate?

Somehow Red Stewart estimates the FCC required Sport Pilot & Recreational Pilot training at the same cost so I'm assuming they're both taught by a full fledged CFI. I'm going to confirm this with the school. I've been studying the Jeppesen Private Pilot manual all Winter but I'm not exactly sure...

Re: Legacy LSA to Private Pilot Certificate?

I definitely want to start stick and rudder. Low and slow is all I've ever been interested in. The relentless pursuit of the ultimate $100 hamburger aside, aviation is pure hobby for me. I wanna actually see the countryside I fly over, so strictly VFR. In addition to Sport Pilot, Red Stewart also of...

Legacy LSA to Private Pilot Certificate?

Okay, so I'm closing in on Spring and I've spent the Winter saving, studying and preparing to pursue my Private Pilot certificate. My plan was to optimize my time by utilizing some accelerated initial training and then settle in to my one to two lessons a week. I read this great ebook, You Can Affor...

LSA's new mission statement?

This youtube clip and it's comments raises a couple of serious questions about the state of Light Sport aviation and the Sports Pilot's certificate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hjiAHVh5dY http://lsaviator.blogspot.com/ Is light sport aviation's mission driven by manufacturers or end-users? What'...

Re: New GA TV Shows: Good or Bad Publicity?

How many people watch "Deadliest catch" and develop a fear of sailing? Probably not many. I think the idea of all of these reality shows is to depict the rigors of professions that your average tv viewer may take for granted. Where flying has it's inherent risk, specialized flying, under c...
