Re: 468: Glass vs Steam

Familiarity is the key. My RV-9A has a Dynon Skyview and for the first several flights I had the "6 pack" mode turned on, since my most recent flying was all done on steam gauges. During my Phase 1 flights I switched over to the EFIS display and haven't looked back. It did take a while to ...

2018 Flying Stats

Time again to tally up the hours flown for the last year.

New blog post here.

Time spent flying.... You know the rest. Not as much as last year, but I did make it to Oshkosh again.

Over 4 years now, and on 8/19/18 (National Aviation Day - Orville Wright's birthday) I clicked over 600 hours on her.

My Oshkosh 2018 blog writeup and photos

I finally found some time to create a blog entry about our trek to Oshkosh.

You can also skip ahead to the photo album here.

Another great time at Airventure, except for the arrivals.

Re: Vans RV-14

They are really nice and quite the update from the RV-7/RV-9. (I built and fly an RV-9A). If I were to build another Van's, I'd seriously consider the RV-14. Solar Eclipse trip to Oregon and Idaho

This trip will be in the memory banks forever. I headed up to Oregon for the EAA 292 Wings over Willamette event, then over to Garden Valley, Idaho to do some whitewater rafting and to see the Solar Eclipse. Photo album is here.

Re: OSH 17

Well, we made it to Oshkosh and had a wonderful time there and also on the way to/from. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to stick around and make the tie-down party. However, I was wearing my UCAP tee-shirt when the EAA video crew interviewed me on Wednesday about my airplane. Haven't seen anything p...

Three years of flying my RV-9A

I've been flying my Van's RV-9A now for three years. It now has 384 hours. Just got it back from finally getting a paint job. Terribly expensive, but totally worth it. Now I can really call it "DONE". :D So I have a couple of blog posts now online about the painting work , reassembly and m...
