Re: Barnes-Westfield MA Nov 5 10 am

Hoping to be there; managed to get the airplane rented for the whole day, had originally been planning to go down to KFFA to visit Kitty Hawk but it doesn't look like the weather's going to cooperate. This seems like a good plan B. :D

Re: Sun'nFun 2011 Meetup

I know I'm going to be around the entire week other than Tue afternoon when I'm going to get some more PIC time in a seaplane (with an instructor, of course; I don't think anyone rents seaplanes without one of their instructors along for the ride).

Re: Home-built lands in bushland, Melbourne AUS

Looks like he tried landing in a field, and ended up going into a wooded area? Near an airport where altitude dictates where you're going to land, or higher up with more choices? I also see he didn't voluntarily drop the wings off his airplane, like this Melbourne-area pilot did:

Re: Episode #204 "Never Boozled"

If the engine quits between 0 and 800 feet AGL, I will land straight ahead in the best possible place. If the engine quits between 800 and 2000 feet AGL, pull the BRS parachute. If the engine quits above 2000 feet AGL, I have a good chance of turning and gliding to the airport for a normal landing....

Re: Line up and Wait

There's a FAAST seminar this week at my airport on "Line Up and Wait." Can't wait to see how long it is.

"Hey guys, we've replaced 'Position and Hold' with 'Line Up and Wait.' Any questions? Great, fly home safe!"

What a fun weekend of flying - PP-ASES & trike

I had my Biennial Flight Review coming up in October, so decided to do something more fun that an hour ground & flight time with a local CFI. I ended up flying (commercially, unfortunately) down to Florida recently to do a long weekend of flying. Started out at Jack Brown's Seaplane Base in Wint...

Re: AME Question

You do need to be an AOPA member to get to the forums; if you try to go to the forums without having first logged into the main page you get a weird cookie error and punted back to However, joining AOPA is a great idea and a great value, plus student pilots c...

Re: Tipping

I bought my CFI an iPhone when he got me through my PP-ASEL. But that was mostly because we had been talking about it for months prior, going through all the aviation apps available, etc. I probably would have just done a meal or drink or something absent that common interest, and probably won't do ...

Re: Accelerated Flight Training

I created a discussion on the AOPA forums about this, search for it if you are a member. If not, I will come back here and post it in this forum, as soon as I pony up and renew :D It was also your first post in this forum. Accelerated Programs, yay or nay? :) I'm still slogging my way through my In...
