Re: Osh 2016

Looking forward to the tie-down party tomorrow! I'm hoping you guys keep it going for a while...we are flying the WWI fighters at six so I may be a bit late. Keep an eye on the south end of the field for them!

Jack's wish is coming true...

A few episodes back, Jack mentioned there should be more WWI era aircraft at Osh... Well, I think someone at eaa listened to that podcast because numerous early aero museums have been invited to attend airventure this year! My beloved Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome will be bringing two fighters to the even...

Big news from Old Rhinebeck this weekend...

The Spirit of St. Louis reproduction has flown! By the has the periscope, no tailwheel, no brakes, and no front windshield. It is the most accurate flying reproduction yet built! :D

Re: Cash McCall

So close... A-26. Doesn't help that it was re-designated B-26 after the war, even though the Marauder had that designation previously. The Invader also starred in "Always" alongside the PBY Catalina.

Re: "Zoom Zoom" UCAP #350

geebee-sarabia.jpg Hey guys, Just wanted to point out quick that there was an original Q.E.D. It was built as a cross-country racer, and is on static display at a museum today. The replica has more wing and tail area to handle the extra power, but is based on the first Q.E.D. The R1 was an earlier ...

Rhinebeck Meetup?

I'll be working the shows Sept 6-8 at Rhinebeck Aerodrome. If any other UCAP listeners are around, stop by and say hi. It is the model airplane jamboree, so in addition to the full-scale show, there will be large scale rc aircraft flying all weekend. Airshows are 1300 to 1600 local Saturday and Sund...

Re: Most iconic movie aircraft

I second the PBY! Remember that opening scene from Always? The Standard J-1 that was part of the Tallmantz collection should make the list. Also, Tiger Moths were frequent stunt doubles for WWI fighters on screen. They flew for both sides in The Blue Max with different paint schemes. If I remember r...

Re: UCAP episode "Airbii"

Avweb posted another update on the Mosquito recently. I recommend the video that goes along with it, lots of cool footage! Not sure if you want to let Dave see that one though... ;)
