Bad reporting not limited to GA

Well, this sad example of an article clearly shows that poor reporting isn't limited to aviation topics: http://www.comcast.net/news/newswrap/6469284/twoarrestedafterpowerlesscruiseshiparrives/ Note the reference to the "Harrier helicopter", and one woman's fear that they were going to &qu...

Re: EAA's Members-Only Policy for OSH Webcams - Good or Bad?

Mike, I'd like to echo your sentiments, and I've got to believe bandwidth concerns did in fact lead to the "members only" limitation. I really enjoyed having all three cameras up at once along with the LiveATC feed. Didn't get much work done last week, but enjoyed myself as much as I could...

Episode 198 Echo

How fitting that "our" Jack, Jeb and Dave received the Gordon Baxter Award-surely Bax must be writing Glory in the sky right now in agreement!

Congratulations, guys. It is truly deserved.

Re: LSA Rentals

Sea and Sky Aviation is a new venture in the North (SF) Bay at KDVO, with a Tecnam Sierra on line at $110 per hour. May sound pricey to some of you, but here in the Bay area a really tired 172 goes for $125/hour. Haven't flown it yet, but just met the owner the other day and am looking forward to ch...

U2 Retirement (again?!)

This op-ed piece written by a former U2 pilot on the subject of the now apparent retirement of the U2 from active Air Force service appeared in the NY Times recently: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/07/opinion/07Espinoza.html Toward the end of the column the author says "The new generation of dr...

For another cross-country odyssey you might like "Biplane" by Richard Bach, written way before his Jonathan Livingston Seagull days when he was involved with the Antique Airplane Association.

Re: Episode #158 "Mach Point Five Six"

I have to agree with comancheguy, but to go one step further why not stress that the process of learning to fly is an adventure in and of itself and presents huge opportunities for personal growth. Sure, getting your license or soloing is a great milestone, but every step along the way to one of the...

I just ran across a thread in the forums on EAA's new social networking site (Oshkosh365) that might explain the situation with the RV-10 in the AOPA Pilot article: Question: Person "A" builds an aircraft and keeps an excellent builders log that shows s/he did well over 51% of the work. Pe...

Episode #150-"Three"

Hearing Jack, Jeb and Dave once again bemoan declining student starts (echoing one fo the topics covred in the inaugural UCAP episode 3 years ago), I pulled out an article written by the late (and great) Gordon Baxter entitled "The New Boy". Here's a line from the first paragraph: "Co...
