Re: Episode #203 "Position and Hold"

Thanks Bill, that website looks really good. I will study it before going there, hopefully next month.

Re: First Mediterranean UCAP meetup

Damia and Luca -- Do you have any tips for pilots flying around to your airport, mainland Spain and the other nearby European countires? Is it practical to fly to Africa? How cool would that be to fly to Tanger and Casablanca? Hi Bill, sorry to have taken so long to reply. I hadn't come back to thi...

Re: Episode #203 "Position and Hold"

Regarding the runway overrun at Catalina Just last week a friend gave me a ride on his SR22 to the gorgeus airport of Andorra-Pirineus at La Seu d'Urgell (LESU). This is a plateau airport, in a valley in the Pyrenees mountains. He is a very experienced pilot, and that's his home airport, so I wasn't...

Re: First Mediterranean UCAP meetup

What a blast to be the host of a UCAP meetup. A pitty that we didn't plan it with some more time, so that someone else could have joined us. Luca flew over a bit of water to get here, so why wouldn't others fly over a bit more? ;) I should mention that I also met the lovely Anthinula, another well k...

Re: Volcanic Ashes

Just listened to episode 181, and happy to hear your voice. I am so sorry that you are having all these problems. Live is so tough... having to stay in the air park in Sarasota with these people... gosh! By the way, we are having again the Menorca Air Race on May 29-30. I would like to see your frie...

Volcanic Ashes

This seemed to me quite an exotic topic, until in the three last days most of Europe's Airspace has been closed due to volcanic ashes coming from Iceland, and no one seems to have any idea of how much longer this may last. You can see the last forecast maps here http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/aviation/...

Yesterday I was working at the Control Tower in Menorca. It was a summer afternoon with a good northerly wind. The radar presentation started to show a few targets at 2.000 or 3.000 feet moving at 10 or 20 Knots. Hummm... They turned out to be balloons. The first three, two Germans and one Finnish p...

Pipistrel Virus

Some colleagues at my flying club are looking for a 2 seater economical, safe, fast cruiser. We came across the Pipistrel Virus on the internet and were quite impressed by its figures. This is technically a motor glider, although there is a shorter wing version, the Virus SW which they claim cruises...

Re: Human Mailing Tubes

Thumbs up for Dave Carroll! We suffered airline victims at least can take a laughing therapy by leasting to these guys. I have never flown United, but I have all kind of similar experiences with the airlines I usually fly. So the solution is what Dave proposes. I long for the day I won't have to fly...

Thank you volunteers, EAA's and otherwise

I got home last night, 23 hours after checking in at Chicago O'Hare airport. It's 5 am now and I am unable to sleep due to jet lag and Oshkosh nostalgia. I am still wearing the wristband. It was a blast meeting some of you on the Sunday evening meet up. I also wanted to come to Pod-a-palooza. That w...
