Episode #194 "The Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot Department

Two comments to add: 1) Unfortunately it's not just the cost of training that keeps the public's interest low in learning to fly. It's also the high cost of flying, beyond training that scares a lot of folks away. It's expensive to own & operate a plane when all fixed & variable costs are ac...

Jack's IFR training/new airplane

Jack, Just curious, you haven't mentioned much for a while about your IFR training...you still at it or has it gone by the wayside. I'm just starting an IFR groundschool after 1/1 and need some inspiration ;) Also, thoroughly enjoying your discussions/comments about buying a plane. I'm struggling wi...

Re: Episode #164 "Three Airplanes"

Well if I had one, I'd probably spend more time just sitting in the hanger drooling over it, but for sure a Staggerwing is on my list. Hmmm, with no budget or endorsement constraints, a DC-3 and a Blackbird would likely round out the trio...again, I probably wouldn't get many hours in flying but jus...

Re: Episode #158 "Mach Point Five Six"

My 2 cents worth: The bulk of potential PPL students that GA is hoping to attract do not have enough familiarity to be able to "game the system" and as a result do in fact pay close to the #'s quoted by AOPA. There may be some students that are fortunate enough to have friends & relati...

Re: Episde #148: "You're not from around here"

Ok, maybe someone out there can answer a question I developed listening to the episode. If NASA's procedure was to open the hatch and throw in the isolation suits then haven't they already compromised any sort of protection to the environment? I figure just opening the door would release any nasties...

General Aviation in the Middle East

Wondering if anyone has any information about the availability of GA in the middle east, in particular Abu Dhabi. I recently got my PPL here in Salt Lake City and may be faced with a job transfer decision that could include spending a year or two in Abu Dhabi. I'm really curious if what I take for g...

Re: Episode #110 "Dave's New Modem"

On the subject of the Rotax and using Avgas and/or Mogas, I'm curious: if you're using one type of fuel does the system/tank have to be drained of one before using the other or can they be blended without developing any performance issues :?:

Re: Episode #105

Putting aside the election discussions frankly the discussions during episode #105 left me wondering why the heck I just spend many thousands of dollars and several months obtaining my PPL. We as a group talk about growing GA but after listening to the discussion it doesn't surprise me a bit that fo...
