Re: UCAP episode "Airbii"

My friends 1/5 scale Westland Wyvern saw a "huge" increase in performance when he added the contra-rotating propellers. Unlike the full scale version, the front propeller isn't connected to anything. The front propeller of his model freewheels in the opposite direction. Here's a youtube vi...

Re: Episode #308

The other Skymaster movie was "The Night Flier" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Night_Flier_%28film%29 A Stephen King film about a vampire that uses a black Cessna Skymaster to get around. I guess they really can't turn into bats. The tag line for the movie is, "Evil Has A Flight Pla...

Re: Camping with your Cessna

Thanks guys for your responses. The loads to the tie-down rings should be able to handle a horizontal load as well as the verticle load as evidenced that not every tiedown is directly below the ring, because not every aircraft has thier rings in the same spot. Therefore some ropes may be out to the ...

Camping with your Cessna

Has anyone hung a hammock under the wing of their Cessna 172? One of the wing tie-down eyelets seems safe. How about the other side attached to the shoulder harness mount point? The door would have to be left open during use. What do you think?

To add more info to the Off Field Landing of the Week. Jeb is correct, the 152 belongs to Mid Island Air Service. The flight was an instructional flight with CFI and Student. The CFI is the Assistant Chief Pilot for Mid Island Air Service. Mid Island Air Service has the contract for providing flight...

Re: NDAA Amendment to Ban the Civilian Use of Military Aircraft

I'm really surprised by your responses. Let's be clear, reading Rep. Mike Turner's statements, he wants to prohibit the transfer of military aircraft to "civilians" for the purpose of flight. In response, you guys are giving me some "1 percent-er" argument. The people I see opera...

Re: NDAA Amendment to Ban the Civilian Use of Military Aircraft

I added two more comments and suggest other do the same. Here are mine; I'm sure they'll be deleted again. Who is advising you? Do you even know who the "Warbird Community" is? They represent more than WWII. Only the resources of the private citizen can ensure these aircraft keep flying. T...

Re: NDAA Amendment to Ban the Civilian Use of Military Aircraft

Rep. Michael Turner deleted my comments off his FaceBook Page. http://www.facebook.com/RepMikeTurner I asked him to explain his disgusting, un-American, amendment. He replaced my comment with a Press Release. http://turner.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=291907

Re: Episode #281 "A Dead Bee"

I posted this somewhere else. But here is the official word. The term "charts" is not found in the FAA's Part 91 regulations (other than for large and turbine-powered multiengine airplanes in 91.503[a]). The specific FAA regulation, FAR 91.103 "Preflight Actions," states that eac...
