Re: "Rookery" UCAP425

FWIW, I was surprised that 1,000' wasn't enough space to dissipate the Airbus wake vortices enough for another heavy.

Re: "WOOF" UCAP424

A lot of people get panicked anytime they have to talk to ATC. It's one of those things that you just have to do a lot to get comfortable with. It's kind of nice to know that someone on the ground has you dialed in on the radar and you them on the comm radio God forbid you should really need them.

Re: UCAP 404-Worsening Conditions

I agree. Mike Busch has done a lot to change the thinking about GA mx. Ironically, some of his philosophy is kind of close to what a lot of old-timer hangar rats that I've come across have been doing for decades; not be so quick to call the sky is falling with every little blip in the engine's healt...

Re: Episode 404 - The Great Firewall of China and Internet c

I just ordered that book. Thanks for the tip, Jarheadpilot. I'm going to be spending some time there. Maybe I'll get to check out the aviation scene a little, if there is one. I totally agree with the comments on the internet in China. Download the VPN application BEFORE leaving the US. All of my Ch...

Re: Ep#392

I always thought that it was taboo to change power settings right after take off without a good reason. I've heard from the old timers that if an engine is going to give up the ghost then it will likely happen after the first power change. (includes mixture change) I always wondered what part of tha...

x-plane stats

I got these stats in an email from the makers of x-plane flight simulator software and found it kind of interesting. I wonder what if anything this tells us about interest in aviation world-wide? Boeing field and Sea-Tac are both in the top 5 airports. Why did Innsbruck make the list? Cirrus the pro...

Ep 384

It's been a while since I've posted. Champguy, you're right; I know that I certainly feel very blessed having so many aviation folks in my life. I agree with everything you said. This has been a pretty active aviation year for me. I've been doing a lot of CAP flying. I flew a lot of hours as both pi...

Question for Dave

Dave,

I came across this Avweb article from 2001 that you wrote. http://www.avweb.com/news/reviews/182488-1.html?redirected=1

How are those headsets holding up 13 years later?

Do you think that the info in that article is still accurate today?

Bill
