Ep. #311 - ADS-B without the ADS-B Out

This article sums up a reason why ADS-B In-only systems won't provide effective traffic information without the ADS-B out. Essentially, the information you receive within the ADS-B packet contains the traffic in and around your aircraft. Without an ADS-B signal (Mode -S transponder?) out, the ADS-B ...

Re: Any thoughts?

Having never read this "whole story" before, I'm as skeptical of all of it, but putting it all together, the original "metal strip caused the accident" seems unlikely and I hadn't read anything about skid marks before this. If this is all true, this is one for the books in terms ...

Re: Helicopter Rescue

Danger aside, this was fun to watch. At first, I thought it was a real P-51. Ballsy and funny.

Re: Hartness State Airport

To hear my instructor over the noise wasn't as bad as I thought. It wasn't using an iPhone, so I could tell where the handset would be best positioned to be heard. I actually had to fly to a stronger signal before making the call. I'm happy to have found one.

Hartness State Airport

It's funny that Jack mentioned the Vermont airport, Hartness State -KVSF-. This reminds me about my first 3-point long cross-country when working toward my ticket. I flew from KASH to KMPV, then KVSF and back to KASH. Funny enough, when landing in KMPV, I noticed the radio seemed a little "weak...

Re: Ep #304

I'm hoping they're taking the FAA to task about Through The Fence issues and establishing Neil Armstrong day as a national holiday.

Re: C-17 lands on 3,400 foot runway

We won't see that pilot in the left seat of any aircraft holding passengers ever again, that's for sure. Great landing, though and a cool take off. I've been on one of those beasts for both the short field landing and Take Off. North Field, SC was a tactical training facility for that aircraft out o...
