Re: #328

A little more detail about the pilot's thought process comes from this thread and the YouTube comment (apparently from a friend who posted the video, grain of salt and all that). http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59599 If you watch closely you'll notice that after the engine fail...

James Fallows: GA vs the FBI, DHS & DEA

I know Jeb at least reads Fallows as I hear him mention him from time to time on the Podcast. Lately he's been documenting pilots run ins with the FBI, DEA and DHS. Here's the link . Don't miss the links to the four other episodes he's covered at the very top of the article. A few choice quotes: I a...

C-130 on skis

Hey UCAP gang, Ironically as I was listening to the latest episode and Jack talk about a C-130 operating on skis in the Arctic, I see this in my twitter stream from @TelstarLogistic. Not only do you get to see the C-130 on skis, you see it doing touch and goes on an aircraft carrier . Amazing plane....

Re: Episode #265 "There's a List?"

The CFIT discussion was fantastic. It also reminded me of the video of a Bonanza scraping the side of a mountain.

Re: Does Anyone Use VFR Wayponts for Navigation?

I'm still a student pilot, so take it for what it's worth: I don't know that VFR waypoints are used for navigation, but rather, co-ordinating with ATC or other traffic. I fly in the same San Francsisco airspace as Landis and they are used all the time. They are used like: ATC wants you to report a l...

Re: Ep# 208

Agreed. Glad to have you back. I listen to most, if not all, of the GA podcasts out there. When I see a new UCAP episode on iTunes, no matter where I am in another podcast, it will be on pause until I hear "Let's go Flyin'" and Sledgeflattener fade out.

$60k LSA

Dunno if anyone saw this on AVWeb, but a company called X-Air is coming out with an LSA that's just under $60k.
