Re: Uncontrolled Airspace Episode #301 "Snarge"
The TFR's are broken down between space flight, air shows/sports, security, hazards, hi disasters, VIP, special, and search and rescue. So if the president is coming in for a fund raiser, that would be a VIP TFR. Per the rules, you can be in the TFR space if on a flight plan or under flight followin...

Uncontrolled Airspace Episode #301 "Snarge"
I was on an IFR ticket last year Summer during a TFR for Airforce One flying into Newark. The controller had to clear the space because AF1 was inbound. We had the choice of leaving the area or speeding it up so we could land at Morristown before AF1 came in. We made it to Morristown on time and we ...

Re: Maintain Proficiency
I have a few suggestions that really help to stay in the game even if not flying every month... 1>AOPA Air Safety Institute interactive courses and safety quizzes. Also, they have several webinars live and on archive. They also have some safety seminar videos on archive. All free. And the interactiv...

AirFactsJournal.com is a great sight. I'm glad you brought the list to everyone's attention.
I've watching Richard Collins Sporty's AirFacts DVD's for awhile now. It's great to see the work he's doing on the site.

Re: AF 447
Captain Sullenberger made an interesting comment that the amount of physical movement in the joystick from neutral to full aft is so small, it would be difficult for someone else to visiblly see the difference in position. You would really need to watch someone while they manipulated the stick. This...

Re: How do we make airports fun?
I mentioned some this the restaurants area...but there are a few things that an airport can do. Barnes Muni in Westfield, MA has a very nice restaurant right in the terminal building called the Runway Restaurant and Lounge. When I fly in there they are open late with live entertainment. And there is...

Re: AF 447
I have also been digging through the report. very detailed about all aspects. It's going to take awhile to fully digest, but the pilot voice transcripts pretty much spell it out. The Airbus 330 doesn't have stick feedback. it also doesn't have feedback from the other pilot giving it input if both pi...

Re: KBAF Westfield Mass, Barnes Muni
Stopped by again recently. They had their usual good food and live music. A patron sitting next to us was actually one of the band member's relatives. So that was fun. The best part about the restaurant is that it is mostly populated by locals and always full on the weekends, so it will always be su...

Re: Orange County Airport KMGJ
The restaurant closed for a short period of time looking for new management/ownership.
I haven't been yet, but I hear that it is now open and the food is good.
KMGJ is a good place to fly into. So if in the area stop by to grab a bite.
