Re: OSH 17

Beautiful plane, Bruce. I plan to arrive Sunday as well. Plan to leave Friday. I'll be camping under my Cardinal in Vintage.

Re: Frustrations/Disappointments - Good Show Topics

Hi Dave, I've been an airplane owner for 5 years and a pilot for 28 years. I understand the frustrations you describe, but I'd like to give you my perspective on your concerns. 1). ADS-B mandate. Yes, it is expensive (in many cases it can approach 25% of the value of the airplane). The FAA has manda...

Re: OSH 17

Is there gonna be an OSH tie down party in 2017? It's always one of my highlights of the week.

Favorite pastime at Sun-N-Fun and OSH

Hi guys, In Episode 429 "Feeling Mellow", Jack mentioned he really enjoyed going out to the approach end of the runway and watching the arrivals at Sun N Fun. That's one of my favorites things to do at Oshkosh each year. I camp under the wing of my Cessna Cardinal. Early each morning, I ta...

Re: "WOOF" UCAP424

I use flight following for any flight more than approximatly 20 miles. Any shorter than that, it just doesn't make sense. The basics of VFR flight following are not very complex. However, based on personal experience (and other posts on this thread) it is obvious to me a one-size-fits-all approach i...

L-3 Lynx ADS-B NGT-9000 transponder PIREP

I started searching for an ADS-B out solution for my Cessna Cardinal about a year ago. I reached out to Jeb and he was kind enough to share his thoughts on the L-3 Lynx transponder, which he had recently installed in his Deb. When the FAA announced they were giving a $500 rebate for the first 20,000...

Re: "Unpalatable" UCAP #420

I've carried CH-53s in a C-5. It's a slow, deliberate loading process. Clearance on the sides is only a few inches.

Re: Episode #420 - Continuous Turn Approach

I agree with Jarheadpilot82. If I I'm alone in the pattern, I tend to fly a tight pattern with a near continuous turn to final. I say "near continuous" because I shallow the bank about 1/2 thru to double check there is no one on final (most often an airplane on a practice instrument approa...
