Re: Innovations in Flight

Jeff, did you make it up to Udvar-Hazy over the weekend? I've been there a couple of times (never over Father's Day weekend though) and love it. I've been to the museum on the mall more than once as well, although I'm overdue for a visit.

Were you able to connect with anybody from the Geeks?

Re: Ride Share

Yes, those who have attempted to openly provide such a service where they "hold themselves out" (a legal term) as a provider of flights have been shut down. As far as sharing of costs goes, I've never heard the distinction between pilots and non-pilots made before. My understanding of it w...

Re: Erie PA pilot lands single-engine aircraft on golf driving range

I've been remiss in my Forum duties, and am just now catching up on posts from May.

And may I say, that "Diamond in the Rough" joke deserved a "rimshot!" Made me laugh.

Oh, I'm sure that's all non-alcoholic Goji berry juice with extra vitamin C they're drinking. Yeah, that's it.

Re: Episode 430 - "S Turns On A Highway"

I can't give a scientific answer to the ground effect question, but by observation flying micro drones and r/c helicopters indoors, I can tell you that there is a distinct change in behavior when these craft get close to the floor or other relatively broad horizontal surface. And, interestingly, it ...

Re: Cathartic 'goddamnit'

Love it. And you're right, it would have been good if the passenger zipped it. But I'm not sure if I would have diverted the brain cells over to trying to shut him up - I don't think he would have given in easily!

Nick, that would be cool. We'll have to bug the boys to see if it would be possible.

Re: 2016 Flying Stats

Bruce, I'm thinking that (with the exception of Jeb) our cumulative (non-airline) flying time for last year was pretty thin. I think I can count my hours in 2016 without having to use my toes!

Re: "Rookery" UCAP425

The reason we bug-smasher pilots get drilled about wake avoidance in the airport environment is because that's where we are most likely to encounter a much larger aircraft. Within minutes of departure, most jet aircraft are climbing to altitudes where we are unlikely to have to worry about them. But...
