Re: Possible NC/SC Meetup at W95 or FFA

In principle, I am interested. That would not be hard to reach from my base in Northern Virginia.

Would you anticipate that we might get Jack or Jeb to attend? Dave is probably too far west to make it.

Re: Recurrent Training

I agree wholeheartedly with PilotBill on the value of the WINGS program. In fact, I just completed another of their online courses today, preparing for a flight next week into the New York SFRA. Very well organized training program, with graphics, photos and video. Worth the time if you plan to fly ...

Re: Air France 447 Debris Found Underwater

There are more pictures from the bottom of the ocean at http://www.bea.aero/en/enquetes/flight.af.447/images.du.site.php Jeb was right: in the summer 2009 after the accident he said that eventually the wreckage would be found. This is one accident where everyone wants to know what went wrong.

Recurrent Training

Guys, May I offer a subject that might be interesting for a future podcast discussion: let's get Jeb's, Jack's and Dave's views on the usefulness of recurrent training. I'm thinking of the kind of weekend simulator training offered by Flight Safety and SimmComm. As I understand, it is scenario-based...

Re: New Scientist article on GPS Jamming

And, as it has been explained to me, you will not get a RAIM warning because the satellites are "disappearing." A knowledgeable pilot on the DC Pilots forum said that "To get a RAIM warning, you need to have more satellites, and then the RAIM notice means there is an inconsistency bet...

Re: New kind of airway

Maybe I have the answer to my own question. A local pilot here in Naples, Florida (APF) told me that the "B" airways are "Bermuda airways" and are used for flights to and from Bermuda. Apparently they are established on the basis of of GPS waypoints. He went on to point out that ...

iPad In the Cockpit

CNN and Wired report that the FAA has approved use of the iPad in the cockpit of a charter jet service as a fully legal alternative to paper charts and approach binders. See story here: http://edition.cnn.com/2011/TECH/innovation/02/28/FAA.approves.iPads/ My question is, does this mean I can use my ...

Re: Cirrus: any color as long as it is red

There is a lot of evidence that the Chinese government has decided to encourage and develop general aviation as part of China's national transportation grid. Not only have Chinese companies been encouraged to invest in America's GA industry, but they are also buying American and other aircraft, engi...

Re: Sun'nFun 2011 Meetup

Do I understand that we will not have a "meet up" as we did last year at Honoluana Island Grill at Venice airport?

Re: GPS degradation in SE US through Feb 22nd

So, would these outages or tests show up on my RAIM prediction checks?

I often use the FAA site: http://www.raimprediction.net/applet.php. Is this covered?
