Re: Stories I'm looking forward to hearing the boys discuss

Regarding the nano aircraft or the UAV hummingbird, there was a story in the Los Angeles Times February 17 about the apparently successful USG effort to develop a drone that can be controlled so that it lands on someone's window sill or on a telephone line. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-humm...

New kind of airway

Looking at the Miami sectional, in the area near Key West, I am seeing an airway designation that is new to me -- it begins with a "B" -- as in for example "B9" or "B646" near Key West -- and the color is sort of magenta. Anybody know what this is? I've seen Victor airw...

Re: Episode #223 The Lost Dutchman Mine

Hello! Am I the only faithful listener who can't see Episode 223 on the home page? nor in the episodes list for download?

I'm traveling, away from my iTunes-equipped computer, and desperate for a UCAP fix!

Re: New GA TV Shows: Good or Bad Publicity?

Yeah, with regard to sailing, no one ever tells stories of their nice, quiet sail across the bay to a lovely lunch. It is always the storm-tossed seas, howling winds, yards in the water stuff that gets told about. Flying is the same way. The drama is in the near misses, the short field landings, the...

Darn! I was slow to check back and missed this opportunity.
Well, I'll try again at Sun N' Fun or Oshkosh.

Re: Threatened Airports

One site that you should know about is Paul Freeman's "Abandoned and Little Known Airfields"

http://www.airfields-freeman.com/

It was discussed once on the podcast, and is a favorite of those who fly around the national capital area.

Re: Episode #220 "Katie is a Private Pilot!"

Interesting to hear that Jack and Jeb are both in Florida about now.

Having displaced myself from Virginia to the Naples area for a couple of months, I'm looking for places and excuses to fly in Florida. Any thought of having a UCAP "meet up" while Jack is visiting sunny Florida?

Re: RunwayFinder shut down

There's an interesting news story on this at http://www.techdirt.com -- I've shortened the url to http://tinyurl.com/2c5x7q7 . Seems to me that this is like getting a patent on a rectangular cardboard box. Then you go threaten the corner pizza store that unless they license your invention, you'll su...

Some Pilots Get To Make Their Own FAA Rules?

Jeb, Dave, Jack, Did anyone see the Washington Post Wednesday (October 27) story on Senator James M. Inhofe (R-Okla.) landing on a closed runway at Port Isabel, Texas last Thursday? As the Post reports, "there were these huge (60 feet long by 10 feet wide) yellow X's on the main runway." A...
