I used to wonder what the big deal was as far as electronic devices in airplanes goes. I finally got an answer I could understand. My opinion? It won't happen. Two totally different organizations, two significantly different mission statements. Are there overlapping goals? You bet. But combining the two just won't happen. Again, my opinion.

Thing of it is, you cannot be trained in every conceivable scenario. Having said that, I hope we never have to scrape that hard on the bottom of the barrel to get pilots in the seats.

I can confirm that in China and Frankfurt they do NOT say behind twice. "Behind landing XXX, line up and wait." That is all.

Just listened to the Line Up and Wait stuff. I can confirm, being an international 121 pilot for a US legacy, that they use conditional LUAW clearances. "Behind landing (whatever), line up and wait." It has never seemed to me like it was that big a deal. For what it is worth, I don't see t...
