Re: Man gets 5 month sentence for shining laser at helicopter

I travel on the airlines frequently between San Diego and San Jose for business. I usually try to get a window seat so I can look out of the window. We were on approach to San Diego and I saw a bright green flash on the ground. Thinking this might be followed by a white flash like an airport beacon,...

Turbo Wing? Another strange plane

Happened upon this Cessna 337 at our local field, KRNM. It caught my eye because it had something hanging out aft of the wing on some long tubes. Turns out it has 4 little single cylinder engines turning 4 props parallel to the wing (2 on each side). A half circle fairing is on the trailing edge of ...

Re: Ep #304

I'm one of those people who downloaded the entire "first season" and listened to every episode. I FINALLY caught up with every podcast in the queue with episode 303! :D Took me about 2.5 years to get through the first 303 podcasts. Great entertainment as I work in the garage on my RV-9A pr...

Re: mega yacht spotted

Just back from vacation on the Mediterranean Sea we saw HUNDREDS of mega yachts along the Cote d'Azur. Many with helicopters. Must be nice to be that affluent! Here is a few in Genoa, Italy. http://www.overthehills.com/Travel/Europe-2012/Genoa/i-xpKDmLw/0/M/IMG0486-M.jpg Lots in Monaco. http://www.o...

Re: Why you should always tie down your 747

The 747 that is moving doesn't have any engines on the wings to give it a more forward CG.

Re: How long to solo? How long to PP/SEL?

I haven't flown in about 21 years (ironically the same amount of years as my oldest kid). I found my log book and after dusting it off it shows that I solo'ed at 17 hours and got the PPL at 44 hours. This was at Long Beach, CA which is a rather busy airport in the LA basin.

Re: Ice Pilots NWT coming to The Weather Channel

So I've watched a couple of the episodes on the Weather Channel and these are 30 minutes instead of the original hour long show I've seen on YouTube. I wonder why they trimmed this show down?
