Fair Skies and Tailwinds, Captain Hoover

From EAA, among other outlets: Bob Hoover, Legendary Pilot, Dies at Age 94 What in incredible aviation resume. Unfortunately, what many pilots know prominently about Bob Hoover is the FAA witch hunt by which he came to stop flying. May younger generations who never had the opportunity to share the s...

UCAP #414 - "Debbie's Older Sister"

Jeb, Re: KDCA If you insist on calling DCA by its former name, then I get to call NYC's gateway international airport as Idlewild (KIDL). What about the airport in Latrobe (KLBE) being renamed for Arnold Palmer? You win some, you lose some; and sometimes it rains. :D ( Airports named after US Presid...

Ceterum censeo, TSA esse delendam

I've suspected for some time that TSA was hampering air travel by dissuading passengers from flying unless absolutely necessary. I've been on one flight in the past 5 years or so, truly coast-to-coast, despite no "fear" of flying. I've just decided that unless I'm PIC, I'd rather find othe...

BLM $$$ Grab at Burning Man::FAA holding Up EAA at OSH

BLM wants $1 million VIP compound from Burning Man I suspect this story will appeal to many GenAv pilots. The precedent has been set -- if there is a pot of money to rob, the government wants their hands in it. They want to be paid for the privilege of having their services which have already paid ...

Wired Magazine Reports Icon A5 Certification

From UCAP's Favorite Aviation Publication. Not only do they get GenAv, the headline shows quite an independent streak -- a little cheeky, as out neighbors to the north might say.

Re: Suggestion for UCAP: Patreon?

If I increase my pledge a few cents, the total pledge per episode will be an even dollar amount. Coincidentally, the difference is the exact amount that I am under the current average pledge by. Of course, increasing my pledge increases the average pledge, and the convergence point is NOT an even do...

Do we need to hear yet another tale of TSA abusing its authority? Has anyone yet wondered if TSA is a drag on growing air travel?
