Papal Pilot

Today I learned that the Pope has a private pilot's license with a helicopter endorsement. He does not, however, have a driver's license because he never learned to drive. He likes to fly the Vatican helicopter.

Eleven things organizations can learn from airports

This is a very interesting article. The author makes some very good points. The focus is on international and regional airline-served airports. http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2013/01/ten-things-organizations-can-learn-from-airports-.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_cam...

Snake Hangs Onto Outside of Plane in Flight

I guess this goes into the "Meanwhile, in Australia" category.

Re: C-130 lands on Aircraft Carrier

Add to the list a U-2 spy plane. It uses a tail hook but does not use a catapult.

C-130 lands on Aircraft Carrier

I had no idea this was possible and they did it repeatedly without a tail hook or catapult.

Another one-wheeled landing

This time it's a student pilot in a Warrior, down under. He does a great job after circling the field for five hours burning off gas. That's five hours you get to sit up there thinking about what's going to happen. Yikes. http://www.news.com.au/travel/news/small-aircraft-preparing-to-make-emergency-...

This is a very interesting story.

I've not seen it yet on the news but the story and commentary are an interesting read.

Not Satisfied

Not satisfied with an around-the-world flight or a flight from California to Hawaii, this guy is now flying from Oregon to Antartica. I like this guy.

Russian Jet, No Canopy, Mach 2+

Only in Russia, indeed.

I like where the pilot put his finer about and inch or two into the air stream and had to pull it back in because it heated up. This is nuts.
