Content Suggestion

Hey Guys. It's really illuminating when you talk about various "flight gear". How about continuing the tradition? For Example, when Jeb spoke about his tablet computer for holding approach plates - that was pretty cool. How about picking one topic to discuss on each episode. Of course the ...

Piper Altimatic V Auto Pilot

Hey Guys. Can anyone give me some background on the Altimatic V? My guess is that it can't follow a GPS flight plan, so when installed with say a 430 would you only be legal to track a VOR? I suppose as long as the GPS is IFR certified you can follow it by using the heading bug, it just wouldn't be ...

Re: A show worth checking out: Ice Pilots NWT

They've got a spectacular web site - lots of eye candy (of the vintage airliner type). http://www.icepilots.com/ God, the production quality is so high you'd think it was all done in the States. We Canadians have been pretty proud of our aviation - Wings over Canada is another perfect example of GA ...

XPlane Vs. MSFS X

Hey All. So it's been a while since I've loaded up a flight sim but I am starting to think about setting one up again. I've always used MS in the past. Now I understand that the division that built that is no longer around (perhaps it's been sold off?) When it did close I went out and bought X-Plane...

Re: A show worth checking out: Ice Pilots NWT

Yeah - I checked that out. What an awesome show. The first episode was a few weeks back. Weird thing - the first episode in the Sat Guide said it was episode #3. Perhaps there were some unaired shows or someting? I fly up in Canada, and it can get down right cold some days doing the walk around - bu...

Holding Patterns with G1000 (and 430 530?)

Sometimes you learn something which you think it totally new and unique - only to discover that - it's common knowledge. This maybe one of those things but I thought I'd share it. I was reading through Tresscot's latest IFR/GPS book and it never mentioned this so perhaps it really is new ;-) This wo...

Re: IFR Pucker - instructors past saved my ass today.

Thanks guys. I must admit - I am feeling like Super Pilot these days ;-) One interesting point... if it was a conventional steam attitude that failed - the problem could be slow to materialize... it starts failing, you're following it and the next thing you know you're in a dive before you get beari...

Re: IFR Pucker - instructors past saved my ass today.

Just heard - there was a helicopter crash in Brampton this evening... I was going to divert to Brampton tonight at one point and decided against it and went to Buttonville (Toronto) instead. Crash didn't happen at the airport - but by the sounds of it within a few miles. There's a ridge line to one ...
