Re: Episode #160 "Self-Ejecting Cargo"

Hi guys, A couple of things had me talking back to my iPod on my way home from work tonight, I'm sure there will be more as I finish the episode tomorrow: 1) One thing you didn't mention in the OFLOTW article was that aside from the stupid question, the reporter wrote a pretty good article, as best ...

Re: Episode #158 "Mach Point Five Six"

Which requires a more rugged airplane? Flying on and off of rough, grass strips which shake the s**t out of an airplane, or flying on and off of a nice, smooth, paved runway? That CFI's argument doesn't hold water. :)

Re: Episode #158 "Mach Point Five Six"

Amen Mike and Rob! Sport Pilot really can become the savior of GA as we know it by introducing a whole new generation of pilots to the fold! We just need more people to buy into it, and sell it as an entry point to the market. So what if you can only fly a two-seat airplane? I can count on one hand ...

Dan Gryder Arrested!

Dan Gryder, the guy who does DC-3 flight training in Georgia (where Steve Tupper, aka Stephen Force got his type rating), got arrested for allegedly trying to hit police with his airplane. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,574345,00.html Personally, I didn't realize it was a crime to drive your ca...

Re: Episode #158 "Mach Point Five Six"

I work as a ground instructor for a local flight school that offers a significant discount if you enroll in the aviation classes at a local community college. If you are enrolled in two ground classes and a flight class, you don't get charged for instructor time - on the ground or in-flight - and yo...

Re: Wilco Films Contest?

I just sent them a message on Twitter with a link to this thread. I vaguely recall them making some announcement on their Facebook page that there were so many entrants that they were still going through them, but I don't know for sure.

Flying Musicians Fly-In at KFWS Nov. 7

Hey Everyone, The Flying Musicians Association is having what sounds like an incredibly fun fly-in on Saturday, November 7 at Fort Worth-Spinks Airport (KFWS). They are going to feature live music on two stages (one indoor and one outdoor), a couple of 'jam session' tents, and more. There will also ...

Re: Episode #156 "Going Haywire"

Hey guys, I also loved the conversation regarding the airplane purchase. I do not own an aircraft, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think that if the 150 is in good, sound condition and the price is right, then go for it! It's a good entry-level airplane to own, cheap to fly and cheap to mai...

History Flies Again (Long)...

According to Wikipedia, in May of 1947, a B-17 (well, actually, a PB-1W) with the BuNo of 77235 was assigned to the VX-4 squadron at NAS Quonset Point. Her later military career had her assigned to VW-2 at NAS Patuxent River, and VW-1 at NAS Atsugi, before being retired to NAS Litchfield Park, Arizo...

Re: PNC Oct 3, 2009

I reiterate what Dave said about how fun the PC breakfast was, and how nice it was to meet Kelly, Donna & Bill. Sadly, we had a 1-in-a-couple-thousand chance technical glitch in recording the episode there. The sound quality is extremely poor. We're still pondering exactly what to do about it. ...
