"The List" keeps growing. If you've got more you would like to see listed, send them over. However I do reserve the right to not list something I think is too game-ish or not aviation related enough.

Now I Gotta Get an iPhone!

Postby cozy171bh » Mon Apr 06, 2009 10:36 pm

I just downloaded what promises to be a really cool app. It is the GeeMeter, and it was priced at "free". It uses the sensors within the iPhone to graphically depict how many Gs you're pulling (or pushing) up to +/- 2.5 Gs. With my current phone contract due to expire soon, I'm even more convinced that the iPhone will be the next gadget in my flight bag.

Cool!

The iPhone app list I have been maintaining on my site pilotbrad.com is now gone.

The good news is that it now lives on its own site http://www.AviatorApps.com! :D
The new site will be more more feature rich that the old list, and will link you directly into iTunes. In addition, you'll soon be able to sort the list by name, price, developer, date added to the list, and eventually category. The new site also has a news feed which you may subscribe to to keep up to date on new apps as they are added to the list, new versions of existing apps, and site enhancements. Eventually it may also include app features (i.e. App of the Week) and possibly reviews. To view the news feed just click the "NEWS" link in the main navigation, or fly direct... http://news.aviatorapps.com.

Full disclosure... the new site is an attempt to monetize my efforts with every penny of profit I make from referrals or advertizing is going right into the construction of my RV-7. Using the site won't cost you anything, but you will be supporting aviation in some way (like helping me buy an IO-360-M1B). ;)

We're giving away two copies of PilotFAR over on the news feed. Just answer a few short FAR related trivia questions for your chance to win.

Good luck!

Foreflight’s Charts, and SkyCharts are great Navigation apps. Both apps will pinpoint you on a chart and give you ground speed, heading … and they both will let you bring up airport/NAV info and fly direct to.
SkyCharts lets you Download sectionals to the iPhone so it will work even without a signal from a cell tower.
Charts gives more details when you zoom into an area, Like a Terminal chart does. It has a very easy airport search and you can add multi point flight plans, which with the speed/fuel burn you can add will give you ETE and calculate fuel burn. It is so easy and fast that I plan dream flights all over for the club Cessna info then toss speed and fuel burn in from a faster plane just to compare and dream of a day when I will have a good plane for traveling.

I just picked up the Droid for Verizon. I see ForeFlight has a weather app, but that's all so far. Does anyone have information on aviation apps for the Android operating system?
