Goodnews - Badnews

Postby champguy » Fri Jul 25, 2014 6:04 pm

The good news is that flying East across Montana sees 120 mph ground speeds in a Champ. The bad news is that you have to land and taxi to the fuel pump. This means calling for help on the CTAF for a wing walker to make sure you stay on the ground once you get there.
Got to watch some poor sod going west under me flying "Nap of the Earth" at about a hundred feet AGL hoping to find some place to put down before he ran out of gas.
Montana is big and beautiful, the folks open and friendly, terms for the crew car are put the keys over the sun visor when you are done with it. Life is good out here.
Remember, not all who wander, are lost.

Back to Good News, flew homeward bound across Wisconsin, South and North Dakota, Montana, and the Rocky Mountains into Washington without a headwind. Silky Smooth air, at twelve, then ten thousand, descending into the GREAT NORTH WEST.
Tomorrow I'll be drinking on Bay Street, Florence, OR. Home at last.
Remember, not all who wander, are lost.
