Nov. 23, 2008 - 3.1 hrs

Postby nickm1622 » Sun Nov 30, 2008 9:20 pm

Hi All. I have been a listener for a while now as a student, but have never posted in the forums.

On Nov. 23, 2008 (one day after my 26th birthday) I took off from ICT (Wichita Mid-Continent) to travel to SLN (Salina). The purpose of my trip was to meet a gentleman from the FAA. The flight up was very smooth and so was the landing. The gentleman from the FAA invited me into his office to ask me some questions. After I made it through his questioning, he requested that we go fly together. Once back on the ground, we went back into his office. We talked for a while more and then he printed out a piece of paper that says I can fly whenever I wish as long as VFR conditions exist. I have been extremely excited to tell all of those that understand my joy with finally becoming a private pilot. Six months, $7000, and 45 logged hours later I am finally licensed to keep learning and I am very excited about it! Thanks for letting me share. :D

I would really like to thank all of the UCAP guys (and gal) for giving me such interesting things to listen to during the day at work. That really helps to keep a student pilot (and now private pilot) salivating for the next flight.

Wow, Nick, what can I say but "Congrats!!!"

And you're from Wichita? Man, knowing someone close to home listens is a leetle frightening

Happy -- and Safe! -- Flying, Nick!

Dave's gonna have to start keeping an eye over his shoulder in the local Starbucks. Although I'm guessing that he had to start that long ago. ;)

Starbucks?!? Man...that's just mean...but there are a couple of other places where I'll keep my eyes checking my six

We all have to keep checking our six. That's where our personal minimums seem to sneek up from, sometimes. Other times we just fly straight into them.
Good luck with your flying. It seems the further we go the better it gets.
Remember, not all who wander, are lost.
