Scud running, like so many things, it depends. When it gets really bad people don't talk about it, just make a silent promise to never let that happen again.
Great story, and such a cool plane. Flying for years and never hurt anybody. That is something to pass on, a legacy of care, and commitment; pride and pleasure.
Remember, not all who wander, are lost.
