Any Reason to Log Solo Hours after Check Ride?

Is there any reason to log solo hours flown after passing your private pilot check ride -- other than to satisfy idle curiosity?

Insurance company will want to know.
Also currency for night flying and carrying a passenger.

You might want to get an IR ticket someday, too. But most important is the fact that champguy already mentioned, your experience will be useful towards insurance companies. They are happier when they insure a more experienced pilot. And you might be happy too, as your premium might be lower.

And having your flights logged on your logbook is also a nice way to remember good flights and bad flights...

There is no difference between solo and command hours. During training they are called solo because they are without instructor, but also without passenger as you are not licensed to carry any.

What matters for currency and experience are not solo hours where you are alone in the aircraft, but simply command hours, which obviously includes trips with friends and family in the passenger seats!

I don't know about the FAA, but here in Oz, there is no logging of "solo" hours; the log only has "dual received" or "command". Yes, your first solo is "command".
