Owning and restoring historic airplanes - Ilyushin IL-14

Hello, fellow UCAP listeners!

I've made this post first in Other Topics part of the forum, but it looks like it will be more in place here.

I'm a part of the group that is currently restoring one IL-14T to flying condition in Moscow. You can view our pics on this site http://vulkan-avia.livejournal.com/2266.html - it's all in Russian but I think the pictures can speak for themselves.

It would be a great deal for us to find people who are now flying and maintaining this type in US. We know of one potentially flyable in Pacific Coast Air Museum http://www.pacificcoastairmuseum.org/ai ... 4Crate.asp and we've allready contacted them. Maybe someone can share the contacts of other owners/operators. In Europe there are no flying planes of this type left and only one in Russia, but it's grounded due to conflict of plane and airfield owners.

And maybe you could share some info on how the operation of historic planes alike IL-14 are financed in US. Are any kinds of partnership or clubs being used for such big and old aircrafts?

Thanks,
Sergey

Hi everybody!

We are looking for some affordable combined EFIS, that could work as a PFD and MFD altogether and would support two engines. And I'm in a frustration on where to start the search for it. Do you know any equipment that would meet these requirements?

Thanks,
Sergey

Almost one yaer since the last post :)

We've made a great progress on our IL-14 "Blue dream" - the 2nd engine is now running http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL15B0A7736950BDCD and in a week or two we hope to start the 1st one. Hydraulic system is working well too http://youtu.be/zaNIj6tCbfY - gears down and http://youtu.be/Acf4AH_7sQ8 - gears up. :)

In the meanwhile we have acquired the second IL-14 "Penguin" and with it being in initially much better condition http://youtu.be/kr3EsVC_LZ0, we plan to make first flights this summer!

Welcome to our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/IlyushinIl14restoring!

Now we are in active search for sponsors... but since in Russia we don't have any successul cases of sponsorship for aircraft of this size - I'd like to ask for your expertise. What is usually offered to a sponsor and what the team would ask from one? What is the legal form of such relationships?

We would be very thankful for you sharing your knowledge or just spreading the word of our project!
