A Vice-Presidential tow hook?

Postby isnoop » Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:38 am

On a visit to Seattle's Museum of Flight, we stopped by the outdoor exhibit to tour the first jet-propelled Air Force One. On the left side of the belly, we saw the most peculiar thing:

We speculated it could be several things, but I eventually decided that it must be a tow hook for when the veep wanted to go paragliding. What's your guess?

Some kind of antenna for a frequency we don't have?
Nicely made, kinda cute.
Come on guys, someone out there must know.

At the base, it has a lot of similarity to the pitot on the Warrior III I fly, but I have no idea what's going on once it gets all curvy! There appear to be static or weep holes in it. Weird.

I would have to agree with Scofreyjet on this one. it looks a lot like the Pitot Static on the Warrior. although im gonna speculate that this looks like it would be more along the lines of being a part of a Static system. I also wonder if it doesn't have something to do with measuring out side pressures to get the cabin pressurization right.
