New LSA/motorbike/Gyrocopter

Postby JamieCT » Tue Apr 03, 2012 6:12 am

Apparently this thing has been in development for 6 years, but just popped into the mainstream media this month. It's a Dutch invention, and possibly could only be imagined in a country where drugs are legal. This thing is truly sick!!

Have a look: http://pal-v.com/the-pal-v-one/

It actually looks really fun to drive, and although I have zero experience with gyrocopter technique... it seems to fly at a decent speed and land at a very calm reasonable approach speed. This could knock the Terrafugia out of the park.

Two great lines from the home page blurb:

"...the PAL-V usually flies below 4,000 feet (1,200 m), the airspace available for uncontrolled Visual Flight Rules (VFR) traffic; so there will be no interference from commercial air traffic."

and,

"When not using controlled airspace, you can take off without filing a flight plan."

Sure makes ME want one.
