I read a post on the AOPA forums that referenced Amy Laboda ditching a Cessna into the Gulf of Mexico in 2001. I'd like to hear more about that. (....See if it's true to begin with :o )

Me too.

It's now on the list for the next time she's in the hangar.

I heard about this incident too, I believe it was Key West in a 210 after takeoff or something. I had this bookmarked from GA news, an article she wrote herself about the event in 7 / 2002. Seems as though it happened on June 14th of 2001

It is an amazing story, complete with text book procedures which we could all learn from. I'll be interested to hear her story on an episode sometime, we can all learn from this perfect example how to manage an emergency. Specifically - ditching a lost engine, no power situation, into water.

I may not go to church but I do stop by my engine rebuilder from time to time to say thank you.

Good for you, Champ Boy...it's my personal belief that my A&P deserves all the respect, compensation and affection as my family physician...This morning, bought breakfast for my friend and IA-man, The Leprechaun...

We all should do likewise...good Karma, if nothing else.
