I saw this article describing an Air Canada flight where the First Officer, after waking from a nap, plunged the 767 he was on 400' down because he thought the planet Venus was an oncoming airplane.
The part of the article that had me say "Oh come on! You...have...got...to...be...KIDDING...me!" Loud enough that my co-workers thought I had finally snapped when talking to a particularly challenging customer. Was this quote:
The safety board said the crew did not fully understand the risks of tiredness during night flights.
Really? The WHOLE crew? I had to double check that quote to see if it had come from Air Canada officials or the First Officers attorney. Nope...it came from what I presume is the NTSB of Canada.
