Lawnchair Larry

The latest episode chat you had on "Lawnchair Larry" had me laughing. I remember that event when he took his six pack airborne in his Sears lawnchair, but didn't realize he made it to 16k ft. He had a lot of nerve to pull it off. In case someone wants to see the best site link for a description of his ordeal, it is http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/l/ ... rlarry.htm

Still remember interviewing Larry for a story in Glider Rider Magazine shortly after his adventure...he seemed a little awed at the attention he was getting and cognizant of how lucky he was...

And now with the priest missing off the coast of Brazil (Brasil to my friends down there ;) ), we have an example of a guy fairly well prepared -- flotation chair, parachute, food, water, GPS -- who still disappeared...but he was trying to fly more than 400 miles...Larry wanted to go flying...

For what it's worth, a fairly cute little Aussie moving titled Danny Deckchair is out in circulation...saw it a year or so ago and it's rather fun; but the balloon trip is mainly a set-up for the main character's insertion into a remote Australian community...fun to watch.

I just remember the A-Team episode where they pulled this off to escape from a prison - I didn't realize it was an actual event! Your recounting of it made me chuckle.

This story even inspired a musical! "Flight of the Lawnchair Man."

That's hysterical. My wife and I have season tickets to a small community theater in Grapevine, Texas called the "Runway Theater" probably because of its proximity to DFW airport. I'm going to suggest that they perform this one.
