Circular Banked Runways?

Researchers in the Netherlands have developed a circular runway concept that is very interesting. This video from the BBC explains how it works. Not sure this is going to takeoff (pun intended).

So you are on short final, and the controller calls "Go around"..... That can have more than one interpretation, can't it?

I'm assuming that if one is built in Australia that the traffic would flow the opposite direction. ;)

Just can't see this as a good thing during IMC conditions, or winter operations. Too much potential for an off-runway deviation.

Besides, you know sooner or later NASCAR will want to take over!
