Special Thanks

Postby jeiting » Mon Oct 26, 2009 9:41 am

Yesterday, the FAA made its biggest gaff in the past decade, they awarded one J. Eiting his Private Pilot Certificate. The FAA declined to comment on the matter.

I just want to extend a special thanks to Jack, Dave, and Jeb. I started listening to UCAP months before I even considered starting training. After listening to enough episodes and realizing being a pilot wasn't the exclusive property of (completely) crazy people I decided to do it. Not knowing any pilots in 'real' life it was really great having hours of cataloged hanger flying to listen to. Thought I'd let you guys know you've had a big hand in creating another pilot, congrats.

For anyone interested I wrote a little post about my experience on my blog, http://tumblr.jacobeiting.com/post/223305646/fly, as well as some information on what it cost me etc. I was hoping that this would inspire some of my non-pilot friends to consider it and it has! I have a friend who had always considered but didn't realize how attainable it was until following my experience. We are now in a deep discussion regarding him starting his training. If anyone of them end up becoming pilots you guys can put those in your logbook too!

Also, to anyone who flies in the greater Columbus, OH area, be on the lookout for a C172 with an unexperienced driver busting through an airspace near you!

And now you get to prove them wrong.
Remember, each and every time you fly you have an opportunity to either be in the news, or in a NTSB report. resist the temptation. Fame is overrated. Something I learned from others, not personal oversight.
Remember, not all who wander, are lost.

Make every flight as meticulous and as careful as your checkride. Fly as if the examiner is with you every time.
This ridiculous thought seems to work for me. :D
