Disturbing, but given the demands of 'keeping pace' in security theatre...

This is getting traction out there.

http://blogs.forbes.com/artcarden/2010/ ... h-the-tsa/

The boys haven't had a good (on-air) TSA discussion in a while. This thing looks like it might be getting legs with the casual observer. Full returns might not be in until after Thanksgiving, traditionally the busiest travel day in the year. They will be dealling with lots of people who fly once a year, and TSA tries to tell them "This is the way we've always done things." (left unsaid 'everybody knows that! What are YOU, some kind of dolt?' Propoganda at its best - A) if you're going to lie, lie big; and B) What a lovely gown the Emperor is wearing) The response: "Oh, really?"

I don't care if it bumps up the unemployment number, TSA delenda est.

Great article, but when has common sense meant anything with a politically charged issue like "safety"?
It is so easy to do something visible, while good police work gets prohibited as an invasion of privacy. And a full frontal scan or pat down for a pretty girl isn't?
Remember, not all who wander, are lost.

New TSA Slogan: Can't see London, can't see France, unless we see your underpants.

TSA delenda est.

It appears that the "Thousands Standing Around" got bored enough to invent some fun for themselves with these new security measures!

Beyond the privacy issues that have the American people in revolt on this issue, those of us who fly for a living have some serious concerns about the long-term health issues associated with these new "methods". It is already an established fact that airline pilots who operate in the upper flight levels are exposed to increased levels of radiation because we work beyond the protective effects of the lower atmosphere. The added dosage, albeit small, of the new screening machines is an unwelcome addition for pilots who must walk through these machines most every day they work. Nobody knows the long-term effects of such repeated dosages for a typical 30 to 35 year career.

Anybody fly El Al? Those are folks who know their security. They have to, given that they are surrounded by people who want them erased off the face of the planet.

Yet see how many countries went to them post 9/11 and said "Please show us how it is done"?? Yep Zero! Everyone wants to invent their own wheel on this instead of being educated on a system that obviously works extremely well, because the last time El Al had a security issue was... well... erm... can't remember!

An excellent article on how 'israelification' of airport security would be safer, but less of a hassle:
