Annie Best Higdon (1955-2014) RIP

Postby jackhodgson » Fri Aug 22, 2014 7:40 am

We're sad to report that Dave Higdon's beloved wife, Annie Best, passed away on August 17, after a brief, but very serious, illness. Dave is handling this senseless tragedy as well as can be expected. He thanks everyone for their kind thoughts, and asks that we respect his privacy as he mourns this terrible loss. obituary

You may post your condolences in the Forums, or by email to Dave will see them.

The UCAP podcast will be taking a brief hiatus. Dave, Jeb, and Jack will return with new episodes in a few weeks.

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Annie, from your mentions of your travels and your lives together, we know how wonderful she was and how significant is her loss, to you, to her family, and to the community. No doubt you both have a large circle of family and friends in Witchita, in Indiana, in Washington, and who knows where else. The ties amongst all those people are what helps keep Annie's memories alive. Your friendships formed through the Uncontrolled Airspace Podcast, though perhaps more recent, are just as strong and supportive.

Our thoughts are with you.

Dave, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. We just lost my mother to lymphoma on August 8th. May you find what comfort you can in the love and attention from your family and friends, as I've been working to do.

Jeb and Jack: take good care of our buddy over the next little while. Everyone can catch up with you three virtually whenever Dave feels ready for it.

Best wishes,
Greg Marshall

Dave, my condolences on your loss...the way I figure it, Annie's in Heaven doing pre-flight on a DA-40 for when you two get to fly together again.

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Annie, the way you spoke of her gave us a sense of the wonderful woman she was. I found it touching that you always refer to her on the podcast as your "bride", an endearing term that shows how you valued your marriage above all else. As Annie heads west, I wish you strength as you work through the weeks and months ahead.
