Congratulations, "Captain" Rick!

Postby t0r0nad0 » Tue Aug 18, 2009 12:20 pm

I got a very exciting phone call on Sunday evening... it was from Rick Marriner ("marriners" here on the UCAP forum), who I had met through this forum last year. At the time, he was just starting his student pilot training and I was very glad to help support him, answer his questions, and push him along since he was from the local Houston area. Unfortunately, after a few emails and a couple of meetups at my favorite beer hall (the appropriately named "Flying Saucer"), Rick and I somehow lost contact with each other.

Fast forward almost a year to this past Sunday evening when I got the voicemail message any pilot/mentor wants to hear - Rick passed his Private Pilot checkride on Sunday afternoon! Not only was I proud of him, but I was also deeply touched that he called me immediately afterwards to thank me for all of my help and encouragement early on - even after not having communicated in so long.

Congratulations, "Captain" Rick! Let's go flying and then grab a Leinie's or two afterwards!
