Datalis Project?

Postby rwryans » Wed Aug 03, 2011 12:59 pm

In Ep. 245, Amy was excited to talk about the 'Datalis Project'. It is a new engine or vehicle that flies in any direction. (?)

Can you post some more information about this?

Thanks,

Ron Ryan

Actually, it is D-Dalus, as in, Icarus and Daedalus, the myth (he was father of the kid who flew too high and melted his wings). The project was presented on Monday, July 25, during the Alternative Energies / Engines for flight Summit at the EAA Museum. You can find more information on it here: http://techcrunch.com/2011/06/23/d-dalus-aircraft-may-actually-be-revolutionary-in-flight-technology/. I like the frictionless bearings and the relative simplicity of the engines, which allow it to propel a craft in any direction.

120 hp for 70kg is not exactly anything to write home about.

Looks like another vectored thrust project that uses a conventional engine. Cute, but not a game changer.
