If I'm not mistaken, the ailerons and elevator on the dc9 /md80 are ONLY activated by servo tab. Without airflow over the surfaces they'll flop about.

I think you're right, Greg. It blew my mind when I learned that we still have airliners in the air that could fly with all the hydraulic systems inop. Kinda cool, I think.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to point out quick that there was an original Q.E.D. It was built as a cross-country racer, and is on static display at a museum today. The replica has more wing and tail area to handle the extra power, but is based on the first Q.E.D. The R1 was an earlier design. Also, I think Delmar's was an R2, which has a slightly smaller engine than the R1.
