Gear won't go down? Look for a grass strip!

I think this may qualify as the Off Field Landing of the Week -- this guy landed a twin with the gear up, at night, on an unlit grass strip that is no longer a functioning airport, using the lights of Opryland to guide him to the field. Moreover, his medical was out of date, and he used to be a drug runner pilot.

He certainly lives in exciting times.
Once again, "you can tell the men from the boys, by the price of their toys."
My bet, he'll fix the plane, and fly it again.

I'd been cautioned that grass was less safe than pavement in an emergency. Counterintutive I know but there is danger in softer ground of something digging in and fliping the plane on it's back. Like so many things, "It Depends."
