CA airport eateries.

Postby InvertedCast » Thu Dec 02, 2010 1:14 pm

I didn't see any topics for our California pilots. My home airport has a great joint called Beeb's located at KLVK.
Here are some other enjoyable restaurants:

Two Niner Diner(good variety) at O69 Petaluma
Blue Bird Cafe(burgers etc) at UKI Ukiah
Multiple places just off field(5 minute walk) at HAF Half Moon Bay
El Jardine(Mexican)(15 minute walk) O22 Columbia
Zuniga(Mexican) WVI Watsonville

There are several more that I will try to update on. If anyone else would care to share that would be great!

Good list of Calif airport restaurants. I've eaten at all those except Ukiah. There used to be a good place in the Golf Club next to KPAO Palo Alto as well as one in one of the airport buildings. And isn't there a restaurant at Hollister? And what about Jonesey's (sp?) at Napa?

The Nut Tree has a huge amount of choices if you want to walk a little. You've got Fenton's Creamery, Amici's Pizza, Rubio's, Panera, In-N-Out Burger and Tahoe Joe's Steakhouse. We love it because it's a 1.5 hour drive or a 15-minute hop over the hill in the Mooney. Time your meal to end at dusk and head over the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge at 2,500 ft for a real light show.

Flying a Mooney M20D. One of only 3 fixed-gear Mooney aircraft still flying.

I fly in Southern Cal, out of VNY. Some that I've been to recently include General Fox Field, Santa Paula, Mojave, Santa Monica. But one of the best IMO around here is The Waypoint Cafe at Camarillo. You can fly practically up to the door and the food is actually pretty good.

How about the Runway Cafe at the Catalina Island Airport - KAVX. It's always a great stop for a Buffalo Burger and if you haven't been there the landing is indeed memorable.
