A PIREP for Oshkosh-bound pilots:

My wife and I stopped this weekend at KJXN (Jackson County, Michigan) for fuel and lunch on our way back to Leesburg (KJYO) from northern Minnesota. KJXN is just beyond (northwest of) Toledo, Ohio.

This is a welcoming airport with two long, wide runways, cheap fuel delivered by truck (no self serve), easygoing tower controllers, and a friendly little restaurant overlooking the field that caters to pilots and airplane watchers alike. The restaurant has a unobstructed view of the ramp and touchdown area.

This is a great stopover point from the DC area for northwest-bound pilots. It is about two and a half hours from Leesburg, and perhaps three hours east of Brainerd (KBRD) in northern Minnesota.
