Senator Inhofe - Again

The Good Senator has introduced a "Pilots Bill of Rights", so we now have more power to fight the over reach of the government, at our own expense of course. Sounds like a set up for a good ol' pissing match to me. So the bigest pecker, or the deepest pockets wins. Is this news?
Might be better to simplify, or simply follow the rules.

Two things you don't want to see made, Sausage, and Legislation.

The NOTAM bit is interesting... so if it was easier the senator would have gotten the NOTAMs?? Really? All he had to do was call the briefer and ASK! We don't have that luxury here, we have to get the computer to give us the NOTAMs and sift through them all to see what actually is applicable for the times we want and then work out any impact on our operations! I only wish I could ask a briefer for the NOTAMs for a flight from ABC to XYZ and get what I needed!

If the senator can't be bothered completing his pre-flight duties correctly, then the senator should be flying in the back of a human mailing tube (or employing a pilot).

I don't know how your parties translate into ours, but I'm pretty sure our PM committed political suicide last night over the carbon tax!

A carbon tax would be less expensive to collect, align costs with national goals, reduce the distortions of polution regulations, and give people freedom to change behavior at their own pace. No politicain in this country wold dare to propose such a sensible plan.
Like replacing the costly income tax with a consumption tax, simple, fair, and politically imposible.
Progress comes when all else has been tried.

See the third item in Al Kamen's "In the Loop" column in today's Washington Post for the latest take on Senator Inhofe's "Pilot's Bill of Rights" legislation, also known as the "Inhofe Revenge Bill." (Link below to story.)

Jeb may be surprised, but it looks like this bill may actually pass the House and become law.

Kamen thoughtfully includes a link to a recording of the famous phone call to the FAA from the work crew's supervisor.

The bill HAS passed, and is on its way to the President for signing.

Frankly, it is probably a good thing that the FAA is now legally required to treat pilots fairly, to allow them to see the government's evidence, and to treat them as innocent and able pilots until proven not to be both.

Someday, perhaps we could hope to see an FAA which set for itself, as a major organization-wide goal, increasing the number of pilots in America, and increasing the use of America's airports and airspace for pleasure, business and the expression of freedom.
